Das antike gesungene Gedicht war einst ein Teil von Magie. Das ist auch heute noch so in Afrika, wo Musik eine Erweiterung des Individuums und seiner Worte war und immer sein wird. Die bei unserer Online-Veranstaltung zusammenkommenden Autor*innen reisen durch verschiedene literarische Universen. Ihre Romane atmen Musik und zeichnen affektive Landkarten von Orten, die sich in ständiger Verwandlung befinden. Die verschiedenen Afrikas, die sie uns vermitteln, wurden aus poetischen Aufständen heraus geboren und organisiert. Tatsächlich begann alles mit Poesie, weshalb wir lernen sollten, sie in Prosa zu hören oder in Songakkorden zu verweben.
Mit dem Ziel der immensen kulturellen, sprachlichen, politischen und literarischen Vielseitigkeit des afrikanischen Kontinents möglichst gerecht zu werden und gleichzeitig im Kern afrikanische Perspektiven abzubilden, wird das Programm des AFRICAN BOOK FESTIVAL von einer jährlich wechselnden Persönlichkeit des Kontinents kuratiert. Mit seinem dritten Kurator KALAF EPALANGA rückt das Festival 2021 nun Angola ins Augenmerk der deutschen Leserschaft und setzt damit im Jubiläumsjahr der Wiedervereinigung ein fast vergessenes Kapitel deutsch-afrikanischer Beziehungen auf die Agenda.
Das Festival findet vom 16.-18. April in Berlin statt mit Ablegern in Leipzig und bei uns in München. africanbookfestival.de

The ancient sung poem was once a part of magic. It is still so today in Africa, where music was and will always be an extension of the individual and their words. The authors gathered at the online event travel through different literary universes. Their novels breathe music, draw emotional maps of places in constant transformation. The Africas they bring us were born and organized out of poetic insurrections. In fact, it all started with poetry, so let us learn how to listen to it in prose or weaved in song chords.

singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, one of the leading artists of the New Angolan Music scene. His influences range from Psychedelic Rock to Jazz, from Soul to Semba—the prototypical genre at the heart of modern Angolan music.
KALAF EPALANGA is in charge of artistic direction of the AFRICAN BOOK FESTIVAL 2021, the lusophone African literatures will stay at the heart of the event (Interview with Kalaf Epalanga).
AFRICAN BOOK FESTIVAL 16th-18th of April in Berlin. For the first time there will be spin-off editions on January 28th in Leipzig and January 29th in Munich.
