In June 2007, 10 years after the first opening, the team of our coffeehouse has changed. Many things have stayed the same and so did the famous architecture of Uwe Kiessler. The spacious room is still radiating the atmosphere of a modern, urban and pleasant coffeehouse. Furthermore, the monument of Oskar Maria Graf, which has been made by the American artist Jenny Holzer, remains in ruling the design. Only some few details have been restored or changed carefully. A new team of hosts, Dino Klemencic and Uli Springer as well as the house management is now trying to create an atmosphere, where people meet and communicate and enjoy the culinary and literary offers of the institution.

    Jenny Holzer:
Oskar Maria Graf Monument

New York artist Jenny Holzer has created a monument to the writer Oskar Maria Graf (1894-1967). The cafe in the Munich Literature House was the decided location for it. Graf's texts are the underlying motives behind Jenny Holzer's work. They are integrated both through stationary and mobile elements into the architecture and utilitarian objects of the coffeehouse as well as into the square itself. The focal point in the entrance is an electronic message board, on which the short prose of the author can be read. Quotations from Graf can be found on the tableware, on the back surfaces of the leather benches, on the granite tables that the artist created for the terrace, and on the napkins under the plates and on the beer coasters. Graf's short stories can be found on the electronic message board that is on the food lift. The table settings, created exclusively by Villeroy and Boch for the Literature House, can be bought for the following prices:
